James “Jim” Bradley Wilcox graduated from Lenoir High School and Appalachian State University (ASU) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.
Wilcox played basketball at ASU and was the only freshman on the team. He also was selected Most Athletic (all sports included) his senior year. Wilcox was All- Conference, All District, All Tourney and Co-MVP his senior year at ASU. He was invited to try out for the professional basketball team, the Saint Louis Hawks, after college.
From 1966-1970, Wilcox was a typing and Business Administration teacher at West Wilkes High School. He was also was Head Basketball Coach from 1966-1970.
Wilcox worked at Holly Farms Poultry in Sales from 1970 to 1983. Since then, he has been President and Owner of Wilcox Marketing, Inc. In 2010, he started a second business Retail Marketing Solutions, LLC, and combined, they have 40 employees in ve states with 15 in Wilkes County, and 27 in North Carolina.
Wilcox Marketing won The Small Business Award, chosen by Wilkes Chamber of Commerce in 1990. He served as President of the North Wilkesboro Rotary Club in 1993. Wilcox has won numerous “Broker of the Year” Awards for Wilcox Marketing, representing such lines of products such as Butterball, Smith eld, Bob Evans, and Nathans. He has served on a variety of boards including First Citizens and Carolina Mutual Insurance. Wilcox was inducted into the Caldwell County Sports Hall of Fame as the rst basketball player from Lenoir High School.
Wilcox is married to Minnie Richardson Wilcox and has two stepsons, Scott and Marty Nichols and six grandchildren.
