His open- mindedness and selflessness have led him to serve as an advocate for friends, family, and others. A neighbor of Holbrook’s said, “Rudy is our most valuable supporter. When one of us falls on hard times, the need is fulfilled. Nobody sees Rudy take care of the need; however, everyone knows Rudy came to the rescue. Quietly, he always has the pulse of our neighborhood and makes sure all is well.” When asked about Holbrook’s accomplishments to State Senator Shirley Randleman, she responded, “Rudy has always been significantly involved in Wilkes County and his beloved community. We worked together on a significant project to bring water to Ronda and Rudy was a key contributing factor to the project coming to fruition. Rudy always tells the truth and is a most knowledgeable community leader. He is a good Christian leader and is most deserving of recognition.” Those who know Holbrook express their appreciation of his benevolence and swiftness to respond to serve the betterment of the community in any fashion.

Holbrook is currently serving his fourth term on the Wilkes County Board of Education where he has been involved with major changes and improvements such as the building of four new middle schools, along with many facility enhancements.
During the late 1980’s and early 1990’s Holbrook raced at Friendship Speedway, where he won over 70 races and championships in 3 different divisions. After he left racing he became a passionate fan and supporter of youth and high school football, which he is still actively involved in today. He is also an avid collector of old pedal cars and memorabilia.
Holbrook is a lifelong member of Cool Springs Baptist Church where he serves as deacon, and Youth Leader. He is known to the community as being a dedicated “family man”. He and wife, Nikki have three sons, Ryan (Carrie), Drew (Amanda), and Chad (Alevia) and nine grandchildren.
